Kentucky Council of the Blind local and special-interest chapters make it easier than ever for blind and visually impaired Kentuckians to participate in fun and informative programs for people with low vision.
The Kentucky Council of the Blind is the leading organization of blind and visually impaired people in the state. With over 350 members, informative newsletters and email lists, and five local and special-interest chapters, KCB is reaching more and more Kentuckians with its message of equality, opportunity and independence.

The Eastern Kentucky Christian Council of the Blind is based in Jackson and Hazard, with members spread over several counties throughout southeastern Kentucky. The chapter meets several times a year and also sponsors a summer picnic and a Christmas party for members, family and friends.
The Eastern Kentucky chapter is especially in need of volunteers who are willing to help with transportation of members to and from meetings and activities.

The Greater Louisville Council of the Blind is by far the largest KCB chapter, with approximately 200 members from throughout the metropolitan Louisville area.
GLCB has peer support activities, informative quarterly meetings and workshops, and a Christmas party. Meetings usually include a meal and are family-friendly; children are welcome. GLCB also participates in White Cane Safety Day activities with other community organizations.
GLCB needs volunteers to help prepare and serve meals, assist with fundraising, and share skills and talents.

The Northern Kentucky Council of the Blind serves Covington, Florence, Newport, Erlanger and surrounding areas. The chapter usually meets the second Monday of the month by conference call or at the Covington library. The program often includes interesting speakers and discussion topics. Volunteers are needed to assist with transportation, fundraising projects etc.

Guide dog users throughout Kentucky are encouraged to join GDUKY. The organization advocates for the rights of individuals with guide dogs, and provides a forum for discussion of issues, daily problems and the joys related to owning a guide dog.
GDUKY holds meetings via conference call the last Tuesday of each month, maintains a free email list, and hosts an event in November at the annual state conference of the Kentucky Council of the Blind.

Tri-state Library Users is the newest chapter of KCB. Organized in March, 2011, TLU is also a chapter of the Library Users of America, a special-interest affiliate of the American Council of the Blind.
TLU addresses issues related to books, technology and accessibility of libraries to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Meetings include time for sharing good books, resources for digital and audio materials, and tips for using information technology.
The Tri-state Library Users meets the first Tuesday of January, March, May, July and September; its November meeting is held in conjunction with the state conference of the Kentucky Council of the Blind.
