Blind and visually impaired people, their families and friends, and professionals in the field of
blindness will gather from throughout the country for a week of exhibits, workshops, seminars,
discussions and fun.
In addition to ACB general sessions emphasizing issues such as education, transportation, and technology,
a smorgasbord of smaller meetings will occur each day. There will be special sessions for blind teachers,
students, small business owners, vendors, and computer programmers. Other meetings will target guide
dog users, braille readers, library users, and people with low vision.
The convention will be filled with opportunities to learn about the latest technology. Company representatives
will be eager to give attendees the chance to try out the latest adaptive equipment. You can explore new products and
compare features in the exhibit area, and participate in hands-on workshops to pick up tips and tricks or get
more in-depth informaqtion before making a purchase.
Convention week would not be complete without fun. Tours, movies, mixers, a game night, and a gospel
sing, and daily Recreation Zone activities will make unforgettable memories.
The Youth Activity Center will give blind, visually impaired and sighted kids and teens from across the country
a chance to interact with peers and learn valuable skills. Educational and enrichment activities will include
visits to local attractions such as a cave, the Louisville Slugger baseball bat factory and museum, the
Muhammad Ali museum, and a step back to medieval times at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum; crafts, games,
swimming and a day at the Holiday World theme park will provide lots of fun.
