People frequently ask how they can be of help to the Kentucky Council of the Blind and its chapters. One way is to volunteer your time, talents and skills. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Be a KCB state convention volunteer
The state convention happens the first weekend in November in Louisville. Help set up and serve meals, act as an usher, or assist with registration.
Assist with website maintenance
Use those HTML, CSS and other site-building skills to help transform KCB and chapter websites into something special.
Create relevant website content
KCB and chapter websites can always use timely content. Use those writing and editing skills to help us keep our content up-to-date.
Share your knowledge
Speak to a convention or chapter meeting on a topic you know well. You might offer to talk about your career, a hobby, or a special trip or experience. Share your musical talent, or teach a craft or a skill.
Provide transportation to meetings
It is often said that lack of transportation is the one thing that keeps blind people from getting involved in activities outside their homes. KCB and all of its local chapters can use your help to provide rides for blind and visually impaired people who want to come to programs and activities, but who have no way to get there.
